ANYONE who provides renovation or maintenance work for homes, schools ,or day-care centers built before 1978, MUST COMPLETE THIS TRAINING or Face a Fine - The EPA Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Program rule (RRP Rule) federal law went into effect on April 22, 2010 and requires that contractors, painters, remodelers, window replacement companies, rental property owners and all those interested in lead-safe remodeling who disturb lead based paint in homes (or child care facilities and schools) built before 1978 must become certified and follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.
This training is recommended for:
- Painters
- Renovation and Repair Contractors
- Building Code Officials
- Home Residents
- Landlords
- Staff working with Contractors
- Youth build trainees
- Apprentices in Construction, Plumbing, or Specialty Type Programs
- Specialty workers such as HVAC specialist, plumbers, floor finishers
- Any worker who removes windows or disturbs more than 6 square feet of pain in pre 1978 homes, schools or daycare centers.
The training is being offered FREE as a collaboration of the Jackson County Health Department with the EPA Region 5 Office out of Chicago and Public Health & Safety who will be the Instructors for the Class.
