The 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is a new virus that causes respiratory illness in people and can spread from person-to-person.  This virus was first detected in Wuhan, China in December, 2019.  The first case in the United States was announced on January 21, 2020 and was identified in Washington State. 

National 

The Centers for Disease Control is monitoring the outbreak and updates may be found on their website where a situation summary and information on case numbers both worldwide and in the United States is listed.  There are currently 46 states and the District of Columbia reporting  reporting both confirmed and presumptive positive cases of COVID-19. 

Michigan Updates

Updates on the Michigan coronavirus or COVID-19 status can be found at www.mi.gov/coronavirus.  The Public Accommodations Executive Order closing restaurants, bars and other public venues is available here. It is also posted on the Executive Orders and Directives page.  

Jackson Updates

There are no positive cases of COVID-19 in Jackson County at this time. The Henry Ford MyCare Advice Line is available 24/7 to help answer questions (313-874-7500) about COVID-19 and screening concerns.   Jackson County Health Department is not conducting testing at this time and requests anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19 (Fever, Coughing, Unexplained body aches and Difficulty Breathing) to avoid entering the building.  Please return home and call your healthcare provider or the Henry Ford MyCare Advice Line (313)874-7500)  The JCHD Hotline Number at (517) 788-4420, option 9 is available to answer general questions and provide information:
