Vandercook Lake Update-
EGLE determined that the unsightly algae is not a Harmful Algal Bloom. It was filamentous green algae, which does not produce toxins. Cyanobacteria are naturally present in Michigan lakes so there may be some floating around in there, but what causes problems is when the bacteria become concentrated into scums or mats and start producing toxins.
The water test didn't show any toxins but a good rule to follow is to stay away from green water in any lake, pond, or river.
