Jackson County Employees' Retirement System administers a defined benefit plan that provides retirement, disability and death benefits to eligible Jackson County, Medical Care Facility and Jackson County Department of Transportation employees who are members of the Retirement System. Eligibility for these benefits depends on factors such as age, service, applicable employment contract or collective bargaining agreement.
The Jackson County Employees' Retirement System is administered by a seven member Board of Trustees. The Jackson County Employees' Retirement System was established in 1947 to administer retirement benefits for the purpose of providing retirement income. Currently, the System has $292 million in assets as of September 2021, and serves over 1,200 active and retired members.
