The Jackson County Health Department is looking for individuals who enjoy working with others to make a difference in the health of our community. Volunteers are needed with all skill levels and experiences to help in the event of a public health emergency.

Job Duties for Volunteers Without a Professional Health Care License

  • Clerk/Greeter: Greet clients and assist them in completing forms
  • Educator: Provide basic information about the situation, the disease, the medication and/or vaccine.
  • Ordained or lay clergy: Provide spiritual and emotional support to clients, volunteers, and staff.
  • Inventory Assistance: Monitor supply inventory at work stations and deliver needed supplies
  • Transportation Assistant: Transport people to and from the site or event
  • Data Entry: Enter data and check information as needed
  • Interpreter: Interpret verbal and written information between volunteers, staff and clients
  • Security: Assist law enforcement with security.

Job Duties for Volunteers With a Michigan Professional Healthcare License

  • Registered Nurse: Administer vaccinations, dispense medications to clients, provide follow-up instructions,
  • Physicians, Physician's Assistant, Nurse Practitioner: Provide health screenings
  • Registered Pharmacist: Provide recommendations and consultations regarding drug interactions and contraindications.
  • Licensed Mental Health Professional: Provide psychological and emotional support to clients, volunteers, and staff.
  • Veterinarians: Provide guidance and consultations on exposed animals
