In November 2018, Michigan voters approved Proposal 1, creating the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act (MRTMA). This Act delegates responsibility for marihuana licensing, regulation and enforcement to the Michigan Department of Regulatory Affairs (LARA). LARA’s Marijuana Regulatory Agency (MRA) is responsible for the oversight of medical and adult-use (recreational) marijuana in Michigan
The Jackson County Health Department (JCHD) has received funding to improve community communication, education, and outreach regarding the safe usage of medical marihuana. Education includes, but is not limited to, the following topics: Michigan Medical Marihuana Laws, marihuana usage while driving, marihuana usage while pregnant, and the importance of keeping all marihuana products locked up and out of reach of children.
