The Marine Division of the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff is responsible for the enforcement of laws on Jackson County Waterways. In addition to enforcement, the Marine Division is responsible for educating the public in areas of boater and ORV safety.
The Jackson County Marine Division is comprised of two deputies who split their time between Marine Patrol and School Resource Deputies. During the school year the deputies work with the various school districts to solve problems and foster relationships between the Sheriff's Office and students. In the summer the deputies devote there time to the 46 waterways of Jackson County.
The Marine Unit presently has two 16 foot 2016 Lund outboard motor equipped units and a 17-foot aluminum rapid water rescue unit.
Each unit is equipped with first aid, emergency medical equipment, scuba diving gear, water recovery and marine safety equipment.
