Detention

The three images in the slideshow below are of the mural that our youth painted with the help of Youth Arts Alliance.
The Jackson County Youth Center (JCYC) operates a 24 bed juvenile detention unit which houses juvenile offenders who are involved in the criminal court system and have been ordered by the Jackson County Circuit-Family-Probate Court. The unit has an average length of stay between15 and 20 days with an average daily population of around 21.
The unit is one component of the Youth Center and strictly adheres to the Mission and Vision statements of the Center. While detained on the unit youth are provided a safe, supportive, and structured environment while in our care. All residents are closely monitored 24 hours a day by our highly professional staff.
