Commissioner Jon Williams represents District 8 (PDF) which is located within the City of Jackson.
Following graduation from Michigan State University with a degree in Political Science, Jon worked for the District in the Michigan State Senate for former Senator Phil Hoffman. Upon completion of the Masters of Public Policy and Administration (MPA) program from Western Michigan University, Jon accepted a position as a Professor of Political Science/American Government from Kellogg Community College where he has continued as a tenured faculty member for the past 20 years.
Commissioner Williams was first elected to the Jackson Board of County Commissioners in 2008 and served two terms. Upon the untimely and heartbreaking passing of Commissioner John Polaczyk in October 2017, the sitting County Board of Commissioners appointed Jon to the Board to fill the vacant seat.
Commissioner Williams is Vice-Chair of the Human Services Committee and a member of the Agencies and Affairs Committee. In addition, he serves on the Parks Board, Region 2 Planning, and the County Planning Commission.
Outside of representing District 8, Jon serves on the Board of Governors for the Public School Academy, Jackson Preparatory and Early College (JPEC), and is active in his neighborhood.
Jon is happily married to M. Tucker Ann Williams and, together, are the parents of J. Tade Williams, Jr. Lastly, the family has two dogs. Ginger is a noisy, rescue beagle and our newest member, Banner, is an Australian Shepard/Poodle mix.
